Following up the 2006 platinum Xbox360 seller Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW), Ubisoft brings the sequel GRAW2, with more of what fans loved about the original with 12 single player missions, 14 multiplayer maps, and a 6 mission coop campaign. Following the failure of the coup d'état in Mexico City Mexican rebels have gathered their remaining forces along the US border. The Ghosts have less than 72 hours to stop a nuclear attack. Lead your team of elite Special Forces for the first time on US soil - straddling the border between Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. You are the last line of defense and must do what it takes to protect your country.

Highlights
  • Team up once again with the Ghosts
  • There is the threat of a nuclear attack
  • 72hrs is all that you have to save U.S.
Maps
Bonfires
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon 2: DLC
Recommended # of Players: 4 to 12 players
Overview:
Several bonfires punctuate a thick mountain forest. The abundance of trees breaks up sight lines and makes fast moving targets difficult to engage.

Peninsula
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon 2
Recommended # of Players: 2 to 8 players
Overview:
A remote village built on a peninsula with bridges connecting many areas of the map. Houses provide good cover when in a close-quarters combat situation.

Mountain Base
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike
Recommended # of Players: 8 to 16 players
Overview:
An abandoned Soviet base situated in the mountains of Kazakhstan, featuring narrow passes and dense pine forests in the surrounding terrain. Fortified ridges provide excellent defensive positions.

Mountain Falls
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon 2
Recommended # of Players: 4 to 12 players
Overview:
A waterfall cuts a path down a steep mountainside, with the fast moving river dividing the map. Rocky cliffs provide excellent firing positions on enemies below.

Desert Gulch
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Recommended # of Players: 2 to 8 players
Overview:
A rocky desert landscape carved into channels by rivers long since dried, featuring rolling terrain. Ridges overlooking twisting paths make long-range engagement and close-quarters tactics both viable options.

Fishing Village
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
Recommended # of Players: 8 to 16 players
Overview:
Dilapidated urban area gives way to a rustic fishing village near the shoreline. This map features a rolling, open terrain, abundant trees, and thick underbrush, making tactical movement a key to victory.

Jungle Mines
Previous GR Title: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter – Chapter 2 DLC
Recommended # of Players: 6 to 12 players
Overview:
A mining complex set in the jungle of El Salvador. A massive multi-tiered structure dominates the central mine, and provides ample access to the many levels of excavation in the surrounding area.
Gamespot Hands-on preview
The original Ghost Recon for the Xbox and the SOCOM games for the PlayStation 2 have proven that there's a huge audience for tactical-based multiplayer shooters on consoles, and Ghost Recon 2 is aiming to raise the bar even higher.

A Sure Hit that Missed its Mark (11/05/2007 12:45:00)

I must start off by saying that I loved the ghost recon games, the rainbow 6 games, and the splinter cell games. Ghost Recon 2 has great graphics, sound, and weapons and that is about it. It is a mating of the original ghost recon and rainbow 6 and instead of a beautiful game, produced more of an ugly stepchild. They stripped it of its 2 team command system and instead have given you 3 idiots to fight with you. You can't control what your team can do, nor do you have another team to watch a flank.

No more strategy, less intelligence. (11/05/2007 13:47:32)

Ok most will probably like Ghost Recon 2 for it's Live play but other than that, there's not much holding the game together except nice graphics & some nice weapons. The Gameplay is pretty much a copy of Rainbowsix 3 & the presentation is good but enemy & friendly AI is extremely Random & horrible at times. And the game missions are mostly linear. The gameplay is mediocre at best.......without the stratey, Ghost Recon 2 just isn't very fun to play.

Not worth it. This is not Ghost Recon. (11/05/2007 13:48:28)

I bought this game on the strength of the Original and Island Thunder. I want my money back. It's just doesn't meet muster. It cannot be compared to Ghost Recon.

Hit, or Miss? (11/05/2007 13:49:05)

If you haven't yet played a Ghost Recon game, Ghost Recon 2 will be some good fun. Up-to date graphics, a fresh story and hours of challenging modern combat is what you should be expecting from this title. I was expected a bit more based on my great experiences with the first Ghosts, which entailed a more tactical approach. And this is where the disappointment begins. The game play: I quickly learned that I no longer have control over customizing my team aside from weapon selection. The whole team is assigned automatically. Yuck! Also, the team is smaller and must face more enemies, armored vehicles and helicopters. These things seem to steer this title away from its roots which is good and bad.
